Multiple dating apps are now making it easier for vaccinated Americans to match up with other vaccinated Americans, according to Axios.

White House announces COVID-19 vaccine plan with dating apps

Per Axios (lol i’m legit writing this), dating apps Tinder, Hinge, Match, OkCupid, Bumble, BLK and others will all add new features and promotions to encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, according to Axios.

The promotions will be different depending on the app. For example, “Hinge will encourage users to share their vaccination status on their profile and give vaccinated users a free ‘rose,’ which is premium content that indicates to other users that they’re especially excited to get to know them,” the White House said, according to NBC News.

Why are dating apps promoting the vaccine?

The decision is being made to help President Joe Biden reach his goal of getting at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot in the arms of 70% of U.S. adults by July 4, according to USA Today.

  • So far, at least 60% of Americans have gotten at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, per USA Today.

One thing to remember — the apps don’t have any real way of verifying if someone is vaccinated or not. So, in theory, someone could take advantage of the promotion without getting their jab, according to The Verge.
