SALT LAKE CITY — Ready for “This Is Us” to come back? Well, Entertainment Weekly has a first-look preview into the show’s fourth season.
“This Is Us” will return with an episode centered around the early days of the relationship between Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). Specifically, Jack will meet Becca’s parents.
“There are going to be some family dynamics that enter the equation from my side, having to contend with my parents and their thoughts on him,” Moore told Entertainment Weekly.
In the present, everyone will have a fresh restart, according to creator Dan Fogelman, who said season four will play with time a lot more than previous seasons.
Toby (Chris Sullivan) and Kate (Chrissy Metz) will begin building their own life together with their own baby Jack. Meanwhile, Kevin (Justin Hartley) will begin work on a new movie now that he’s sober again. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) will start a new life after relocating to Philadelphia.

The cast of “This Is Us” talked about the season at a cast gathering on Aug. 10. Ventimiglia said the show plans to go deeper than in previous years, CNN reports.
“The audience connects to the Pearsons,” Ventimiglia said, according to CNN. ”I think in that, we as a creative group, it’s our duty to go deeper and give the audience more of an understanding. ... We’ve got to really let the trap door open and fall through.”
Sullivan agreed.
“I’ll just say this season is going in a direction that nobody will expect,” Sullivan said, per CNN. “People gravitate to this show because this show is a hand guide on how to navigate difficult emotions or difficult relationships. And all relationships are complicated.”
“This Is Us” returns on Sept. 24.
