“The Masked Singer” saw something for the first time on Wednesday night — someone unmasked himself without a traditional elimination.

What’s going on?

The show had its second group of contestants make their stage debuts Wednesday. The newcomers included the Crocodile, Seahorse, Gremlin, Whatchamacallit, Serpent and Baby Alien, according to USA Today.

  • The Gremlin decided to take off his mask ahead of time.
  • “I want to take this (mask) off right now,” he said.
  • And then he did, revealing himself to be Mickey Rourke of all people.
  • “Masked Singer” host Nick Cannon said: “I don’t know what’s happening, ladies and gentlemen. This is a ‘Masked Singer’ first.”

Because of the reveal, the Gremlin is now eliminated.

Why did he do it?

Rourke explained that he joined the show because he was around the area, and wanted to participate in a few episodes, according to People magazine.

  • “I was just in the neighborhood,” he said. “I liked the show. I watched like four episodes and they asked me, ‘Would you be interested?’ “
