The “chicken sandwich wars” might be back on.
Wendy’s introduced the new Classic Chicken Sandwich to its menu last week, and now customers can try it for free, according to Fox News.
Through Nov. 8, customers can get the new sandwich at no cost with any purchase that’s made in-restaurant or with the Wendy’s app, Fox reported.
And customers can get one free sandwich per week — which means it’s possible to get two of the Classic Chicken Sandwich for free before the promotion ends, according to People magazine.
“The new Classic Chicken Sandwich features a premium all-white meat chicken breast that is juicy and crispy, layered with mayo, a slice of tomato, lettuce, and pickles, all placed between a warm, premium toasted bun,” Wendy’s said in a statement, according to NBC’s “Today” show.
Wendy’s will also use the new fillet on the chicken sandwiches that already exist on the menu, including the Bacon Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich and the Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwich, according to “Today.”
Fast food restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Popeyes have competed in the past over their chicken sandwiches, with McDonald’s, KFC, and others joining the fray, according to Fox. Burger King reportedly is also testing a new chicken sandwich, so it seems as though the “wars” might continue.
