  • The newest episode of “The Bachelorette” — one that show’s Clare Crawley’s exit — will now air on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. MT, according to the New York Post.
  • The episode will be available for streaming the following day on ABC.com, the ABC app and Hulu, according to the Deseret News
  • “Bachelorette” host Chris Harrison said the upcoming episode — which also features Tayshia Adams, the new “Bachelorette” lead — puts all the rumors about the season to rest.
  • “We’re not pretending anymore, we’re with you,” he told the New York Post.

 More context

  • Initially, Crawley’s season was supposed to debut on May 18, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted production in March — just hours before Crawley was supposed to meet her suitors, the Deseret News previously reported.
  • Production picked up again in July. In August, Life & Style magazine reported the 39-year-old Crawley quit filming three weeks into production and got engaged to contestant Dale Moss.
  • “One of her potential guys found a way to get in touch with her and they began talking,” People reported. “By the time filming officially began, they were basically already in love. No one else stood a chance. It just became so obvious from her subsequent few dates that her heart wasn’t in it and she just wasn’t feeling it. Then she said she wanted out.”

Controversy

This season of “The Bachelorette” has already sparked controversy. The Oct. 20 episode faced “double standard” criticism for airing a scene where male contestants were asked to strip during a dodgeball game, the Deseret News reported.

  • “If this was a ‘Bachelor’ season, no way this happens, no way they get away with it, no way it’s appropriate, no way this just becomes a weekly topic,” said former “Bachelor” star Ben Higgins, according to the Deseret News
  • “I think the show is super smart,” he continued. “They knew this wouldn’t shut down the show, but it’s pushing the envelope a little bit here. ... This is all fun and games until my buddies and I are naked on national television. They push the envelope every season, but this felt like a lot.”
