After some setbacks, “The Bachelorette” season 16 finally made its debut. But if you missed the premiere, there’s still a few ways of catching all the drama.
How you can watch
- The two-hour “Bachelorette” premiere aired Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. MT on ABC.
- The premiere is now available for streaming on ABC.com, the ABC app and Hulu, according to Glamour.
Some background:
- Initially, Clare Crawley’s season was supposed to debut on May 18, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted production in March — just hours before Crawley was supposed to meet her suitors, the Deseret News previously reported.
- Due to the delay, the show got a new lineup of contestants — a mix of new names and contestants from the original roster.
- Production picked up in July at a resort in Palm Springs, California. The cast and crew were required to undergo a two-week quarantine, temperature checks and COVID-19 testing, according to CNN.
Will Clare Crawley be leaving?
- In August, Life & Style magazine reported the 39-year-old Crawley quit filming three weeks into production and got engaged to contestant Dale Moss, who is featured in the new trailer, according to Fox News.
- According to People magazine, Crawley fell in love with one of her original suitors following delayed production.
- “One of her potential guys found a way to get in touch with her and they began talking,” People reported. “By the time filming officially began, they were basically already in love. No one else stood a chance. It just became so obvious from her subsequent few dates that her heart wasn’t in it and she just wasn’t feeling it. Then she said she wanted out.”
- Reports soon began circulating that Tayshia Adams would be replacing Crawley at some point during the season, according to the Deseret News.
What happens in the premiere?
- Fans got a glimpse of the premiere during Monday night’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.” The teaser hints that Crawley may not be the only female lead of the season, according to USA Today. Host Chris Harrison also tells Crawley: “Congratulations, you’ve just blown up ‘The Bachelorette.’”
- “I don’t really know what blowing up ‘The Bachelorette’ means,” Crawley told USA Today. “I think if you’re going to take a woman that knows what she wants and has a direction, and is just super honed in on what she’s looking for, if that’s blowing up ‘The Bachelorette,’ then I’ll blow it up every day.”
- In the teaser, Crawley can be seen greeting Moss with a large smile, later saying, “I definitely felt like I just met my husband,” according to People.
- The teaser also shows Crawley clashing with a contestant named Yosef Aborady, who shouts at Crawley: “I expected way more from the oldest Bachelorette!’
- “Guess what, I am the oldest Bachelorette, this 39 that’s standing here, that’s single, because I didn’t settle for men like that,” Crawley retorts.
- Aborady does not return later in the season, according to the New York Post.
