Warning: This review contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 8 of “The Mandalorian.”

“Star Wars” fans across social media (and possibly the galaxy) have pointed out a rather important fact about “The Mandalorian” season 2 finale — the Mandalorian is now the king of Mandlore.

What happened:

“The Mandalorian” season 2 finale culminated with an epic final clash between the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Espositio).

  • Mando used his Beskar armor staff while Gideon used the darksaber, which can cut through anything except Beskar.
  • Gideon was soundly defeated. Mando took possession of the sword moments later.

How this makes Mando the king

The darksaber has more powers than just being able to cut through objects and combat a lightsaber. In fact, the weapon has been a symbol of power on the planet Mandalore, where the Mandalorian creed began, as ComicBook.com reports.

  • The weapon can only change hands through combat, which is something “The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars” Rebels animated series taught us years back.
  • Because Din Djarin won the darksaber through combat, he is currently the king of Mandlore, technically.
