“The Last Show” host Stephen Colbert recently joked about the meaning of the Utah monolith, and it’s pretty intense.

Context

  • The Utah monolith seemed to appear out of nowhere at the end of November. A team of biologists discovered the Utah monolith in a remote area of the state, prompting a social media reaction from all over the world. Soon after, similar monoliths appeared in Romania and California.

Colbert theory

Colbert talked about the Utah monolith on “The Last Show” Thursday night, saying the mystery objects come at a rather important time, according to Mashable.

  • “Folks, it’s no coincidence that these monoliths appeared just before the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn coming up on Dec. 21,” said Colbert. “Open your eyes, sheeple! These monoliths are clearly dormant, sub-spacetime energy nodes that will awaken at a specific pitch in the vibration of the inter-planetary matrix to help us make the leap to the next great phase of human evolution, reach beyond imagination, and touch the very face of God!”

Then, Colbert threw in a joke, highlighting how the monolith might actually be just an ad campaign.

  • “Or it’s gonna turn out to be like a viral campaign for Mountain Dew. Either way, I’m here for it.”

Colbert joins a running list of brands and celebrities who have talked about the Utah monolith. Southwest AirlinesMoonPie and Steak-umm all joked about the obelisk. There was also a viral TikTok video that poked fun at the structure, too.
