Disneyland Resort has added a new sign to the Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street establishments that explain people can no longer eat or drink there.

  • The sign reads: “California State Order prohibits eating and drinking on Disneyland Resort property at this time.”

What happened to California

Most of California began a new lockdown Monday, The New York Times reports. Both Southern California and San Joaquin Valley saw a shortage of hospital beds, which led to California adding new restrictions. The order said hotels would only allowed to be open to support critical infrastructure, according to The Washington Post. Indoor and outdoor dining options were limited.

  • “What we’ve seen is that those policies were insufficiently strict, or insufficiently enforced, or insufficiently complied with to make a difference with transmission,” said Dr. George Rutherford, an epidemiologist at the University of California, San Francisco, told The New York Times.

Disneyland update:

Disneyland added a note to its official website to explain the changes:

“While the Downtown Disney District has begun a phased reopening, beginning Dec. 7, restaurants and dining locations that do not offer take-out will close. At that time, guests will not be permitted to open or consume any food or beverage items on property, and food and beverage items purchased at the Downtown Disney District must be taken to-go, for consumption off property only. Retail locations will remain open with enhanced health and safety measures in place.”
