Disneyland decided to roll back its in-person dining options at Buena Vista Street after California decided to add new dining restrictions for the state.
What’s going on?
On Monday, Disneyland’s restaurants and food and beverage locations that don’t offer takeout on Buena Vista Street and Downtown Disney will again close their doors in Southern California, according to the Orange County Register.
- The decision comes after Southern California went into lockdown over the weekend.
- Retail stores will remain open. However, shops can only operate at reduced capacity.
Context:
Disneyland has remained closed since March because of the coronavirus pandemic. It was reportedly going to reopen in July to celebrate the parks’ 65th anniversary. However, California did not issue guidelines for reopening, so the park stayed closed. Those reopening guidelines came later, but they limited Disneyland from reopening. The park announced Buena Vista Street at California Adventure would reopen Nov. 19.
New signs exist
Disneyland Resort added new signs to the Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street establishments that explain people can no longer eat or drink there.
The sign reads: “California State Order prohibits eating and drinking on Disneyland Resort property at this time.”
