Utah’s Megaplex Theatres received some national recognition in February.
What’s going on?
- Boxoffice Pro Magazine ranked the Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres chain as one of the top 50 “giants of film exhibition” in the United States for its February issue.
- Megaplex ranked No. 29 on the list with 182 screens at 16 different locations.
Reaction
- Blake Andersen, the Megaplex Theatres president, said: “Considering that we compete with circuits that have hundreds of locations and thousands of screens, it’s nice for Megaplex to be acknowledged as a contender in the movie industry. With a new Megaplex location already announced in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and even more plans for future growth, we’re excited to offer the Megaplex experience to even more guests.”
Was Megaplex successful in 2019?
- It’s no secret that Megaplex Theatres had some successes in 2019, which likely helped its ranking among the Boxoffice Pro magazine.
- The theater chain hosted movie marathons for the Marvel, “Toy Story “and “Star Wars” franchises, something only a select of movie theater chains in North America had the opportunity to do.
- Megaplex Theatres ranked nationally for its “Star Wars” domestic box office sales. The Megaplex 20 in South Jordan ranked No. 3 nationally for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” according to a press release emailed to the Deseret News.
