The 24 karat gold-plated Oscar statuette given to Academy Award winners has a financial value of just $400, Forbes reports, but the gift bags given to each nominee are more costly, with Forbes valuing the 2020 swag bag at $225,000.
All 24 acting and directing nominees at the 92nd Academy Awards walked away with a lavish bag of their own on Sunday. The “Everyone Wins” bags are produced by the company Distinctive Assets, which has no official affiliation with the Oscars but has been providing gift bags at various Hollywood awards ceremonies for more than two decades, Newsweek reports.
Here’s what’s in the bag, and what it’s worth.
Fox Business reports the bag includes:
- A two-week luxury cruise to the Antarctic with Scenic Eclipse, worth $78,000.
- $25,000 worth of facial procedures and treatments from plastic surgeon Dr. Konstantin Vasyukevich.
- A trip to the famous Golden Door spa in Escondido, California. A weeklong stay at the spa is worth $10,000.
- A two-night luxury resort stay in Los Cabos, Mexico, which ranges from $1,200-$6,000 per night.
- An eight-person overnight stay at a lighthouse in the Canary Islands, valued at around $1,700 per night.
Forbes reports:
- $20,000 worth of matchmaking service from Drawing Down the Moon Matchmaking.
- A 24 carat gold-plated vape pen, which was apparently inspired by Best Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio’s love of vaping, and is worth $150.
- A one-year membership to the lifestyle management service Insignia, worth $10,000.
- Chocolate Milanos, worth less than $5 (the cheapest item in the bag).
CNBC reports:
- 24 karat gold-leaf crystal-infused bath bombs, worth more than $100 each.
- A five-day meal plan following the intermittent fasting diet, worth $250.
- Ten personal training sessions with Alexis Seletzky, worth $900 each.
The total value of all 24 bags — usually its 25, but Scarlett Johansson was nominated for both best actress and best supporting actress this year — is approximately $5.4 million, according to Forbes.
