“America’s Got Talent: The Champions” season 2 ended Monday night, but will there be a third season?

Will there be a season 3?

  • NBC has not yet announced whether “AGT: The Champions” will be canceled or renewed for a season 3.
  • Even with the lower ratings, though, the website TV Series Finale predicts the show will be renewed.
  • If NBC were to renew the show, “AGT: The Champions” season 3 would likely air January 2021, according to The Cinemaholic
  • The TV website CarterMatt reports that there’s enough global talent to continue the show, but adds, “We’re not sure that ‘AGT: The Champions’ can be a yearly thing unless you really just try to take the best talent from the past year from all different versions of the show. If you do that, though, we’re not sure the name applies. It feels a little bit more like ‘America’s Got Talent: All-Stars.’”

Who won ‘AGT: The Champions’ season 2?

  •  During the final episode of “AGT: The Champions” season two, the 29 dancers in V.Unbeatable rose from the slums of Mumbai, India, to Hollywood fame, wowing the superfans and taking home the $1 million prize.
  • “This is by far the best act that has ever graced any of the stages in any talent show,” judge Howie Mandel previously told the energetic dancers.

  • The group has signed an exclusive representation deal with Desh Vegas, a Las Vegas-based Indian entertainment promoter.
  • “V.Unbeatable claiming top honor on “AGT: Champions” signifies a massive step forward for Indian entertainment and cultural representation here in America,” said Ram Ramanathan, manager of Desh Vegas, in the release. “We plan to highlight many other cherished Indian artists, creators and customs, not only the year ahead, but for years to come.”

When did ‘AGT: The Champions’ first premiere?

  • “AGT: The Champions” premiered in January 2019.
  • The season 1 winner was magician Shin Lim, who won “America’s Got Talent” the previous year.
  • The runner-up was the young ventriloquist Darci Lynne, who won “AGT” in 2017 when she was 12 years old.

  • The season’s peak viewership came with the finale that brought in 10.5 million viewers, according to the Deseret News
  • After season one, fans were skeptical about the show’s return, The Cinemaholic reported. The show was labeled “the Olympics of talent,” featuring 50 of the best acts from the “Got Talent” franchise.
  • But ratings were good and NBC opted for a second season. “AGT: The Champions” season 2 premiered on Jan. 6 with some changes in the competition format, including reducing the number of participants to 40.
  • Season two brought in less viewers — the finale, which aired Feb. 17, drew 7.6 million viewers, according to Variety
  • That drop in viewership could be because the season didn’t have the big names of season 1, like Lim, Lynne and Susan Boyle, according to the TV website CarterMatt.
  • The controversy over judge Gabrielle Union getting fired from “AGT” also could have contributed to the lower numbers, CarterMatt reported.
