Vanessa Bryant has reportedly filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the company that operated the helicopter that crashed and killed Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant and seven others last month, according to The Los Angeles Times.

What’s going on:

  • According to USA Today, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. However, spokesperson Mary Hearn said the lawsuit had not been processed, USA Today reports.
  • The lawsuit claims pilot Ara Zobayan failed “to use ordinary care in piloting the subject aircraft,” according to USA Today.
  • The lawsuit accuses Island Express Helicopters showed “negligence” and said Bryant “was killed” because of the pilot’s actions.
  • According to USA Today, “the 27-page complaint doesn’t specify a dollar amount; it seeks general, economic and punitive damages, which could total into the millions.”
  • TMZ was the first to report on the lawsuit.

Kobe Bryant honored at memorial

  • Vanessa Bryant celebrated her husband Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna Bryant at a memorial service at the Staples Center on Monday, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
  • She said: “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together. Babe, you take care of our GiGi.”
