Megaplex Theatres issued a statement about how it plans to adjust to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
- Megaplex said it will remain open and make “operational adjustments when appropriate.”
- Megaplex will limit capacity to no more than 75 guests.
- The company will sanitize occupied seats between shows.
- Megaplex will scale back prepared and perishable menu items in the food courts.
- And the company will reschedule or refund companies that were to host corporate events or parties at a Megaplex.
Refunds will happen, too
The company will refund any pre-purchased tickets for films that have been rescheduled by Hollywood studios. Those films, according to the statement, include:

- “Antlers” (TBD)
- “Fast & Furious 9” (April 2021)
- “A Quiet Place 2” (TBD)
- “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” (August 2020)
- James Bond “No Time to Die” (November 2020)
- “The Lovebirds” (TBD)
- “The Artist’s Wife” (TBD)
Additional health steps
- The theater company said it has purchased additional hand sanitizing stations to help people keep their hands clean.
- The company will enhance deep cleaning routines at night.
- There will be additional cleaning in high-traffic areas.
- Public restrooms, doors, handles and faucets will be cleaned with additional attention.
- Employees will receive additional training.
Movie theaters during coronavirus
A national poll from The Hollywood Reporter and Morning Consult found most Americans are split on whether or not movie theaters should close. About 38% said Americans support closing theaters while 44% want to shut them.
