- Three writers on the show got sick with the coronavirus. Guest star Daniel Dae Kim was also diagnosed with COVID-19, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
- “New Amsterdam” showrunner David Schulner said he supported the idea, according to Fox News.
Details
- The episode — called “Pandemic” and later renamed “Our Doors Are Always Open” — was originally set to air April 7.

Real life vs. fiction
- “New Amsterdam” takes place at a fictionalized version of a hospital similar to Bellevue Hospital in New York.
- Bellevue Hospital has hit headlines in recent days after a massive makeshift morgue was created there to house those who passed away from the coronavirus, according to NBC New York.
