David Archuleta dropped his new single “OK, All Right” on Friday, and told his social media followers that even though it wasn’t planned, it’s “perfect timing” right now for the song’s release.

“I wrote it to remind myself when life is overwhelming and stressful not to look at things in a doom gloom way but that things will be fine and work out,” Archuleta wrote on Twitter.

“OK, All Right” is the “American Idol” runner-up’s first new music of 2020, which will be followed by a new album later this year, according to Billboard.

“I feel like it’s so interesting that this song comes out, of all times, now,” Archuleta shared in a video on Twitter. “I didn’t plan it that way—I mean, no one was planning anything to go the way it’s going right now.”

But Archuleta told his followers that he felt this was the “perfect song” for this moment in time, since he wrote it as a reminder during challenging times that things will work out.

Many of the songs on Archuleta’s forthcoming album will follow a similar theme, he told Billboard.

“A lot of [the songs] are basically the conversation I had with myself, where I’m trying to move forward, but I’m fighting a lot of the worries and negativity that I feel towards myself,” Archuleta told Billboard.“The fun aspects of the tracks are almost like, ‘C’mon, you gotta laugh at yourself a little bit — it’s a little ridiculous how you’re thinking. Don’t let it get to you.’”

Archuleta’s “OK, All Right” tour was scheduled to begin in Los Angeles on March 30, but all of his shows through May 11 were postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a tweet from Archuleta on March 13.
