Vanessa Bryant broke social media silence Tuesday to share the release date of an upcoming book from Kobe Bryant, her late husband who died in January.
What’s happening:
- Vanessa Bryant posted a short video clip of the new series “The Wizenard Series: Season One,” which will be a sequel to Kobe Bryant’s book “The Wizenard Series: Training Camp, which was written by Wesley King.
- Vanessa Bryant wrote in the caption: ”Welcome back to Dren! We hope you are all ready to catch up with the West Bottom Badgers for another magical basketball season.”
- King, the book’s author, wrote on Twitter: ”Official release day. Bittersweet without my collaborator, but grateful to see the words live on. This is a book about chasing your dreams.”
Kobe Bryant’s turn to writing
- Kobe Bryant made a turn toward writing and publishing in the years following his basketball career. In fact, Kobe Bryant was working on a children’s book with Brazilian author Paulo Coelho before he died, The Associated Press reports.
- As I wrote for the Deseret News, Bryant had been writing books under the Granity Studios label for young readers.
- Coelho told The Associated Press. “I deleted the draft because it didn’t make any sense to publish without him. It wouldn’t add anything relevant to him or his family.”
