HBO Max has announced its official launch date, as well as what shows to expect on the upcoming streaming service, Variety reported on Tuesday.
HBO Max will debut on May 27 and will feature 10,000 hours of content that includes HBO’s full programming, as well as new original series, a wide range of Warner Bros. films, and content from other WarnerMedia brands such as CNN, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Looney Tunes and more, according to Variety.
“Our number one goal is having extraordinary content for everyone in the family,” Robert Greenblatt, WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman, said in a statement according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Some of the original series that will be available on HBO Max at launch will include the comedy series “Love Life,” starring Anna Kendrick; “Craftopia,” hosted by YouTuber LaurDIY; and “The Not Too Late Show with Elmo,” from Sesame Workshop, according to Variety.
A reunion special that was in the works for the hit sitcom “Friends” will not be available at launch, as production was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, HBO Max will be the exclusive home for all 10 seasons of “Friends” and the reunion is still expected to happen in the future.
HBO Max will also feature all of the Studio Ghibli films, DC Comics films such as “Joker” and “Wonder Woman,” and classic films such as “Casablanca” and “The Wizard of Oz,” Variety reported.
The streaming service will be available for $14.99 per month when it launches on May 27, according to CNBC.
