“Battlestar Galactic” star and “Star Wars” alum Katee Sackhoff has reportedly signed on to join “The Mandalorian” for the show’s second season, according to SlashFilm.
According to the report, Sackhoff will play the live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze, a Mandalorian warrior who appeared in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Sackhoff voiced Bo-Katan in the animated series and now it seems she will play her in a live-action role.
Sackhoff reportedly filmed her scenes in February before the coronavirus pandemic closed down studios, SlashFilm reports
Her character first appeared in the fourth season of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” as the second-in-command of the group Death Watch. She recruited the Jedi to help her win back the Mandlore throne from Darth Maul, who took the throne after obtaining the darksaber.
Bo-Katan was seen in the final episodes of “The Clone Wars,” working with Ahsoka Tano to defeat Maul during the Siege of Mandalore.
Later, she appeared in “Star Wars Rebels” after Sabine Wren — who comes from a Mandalore background — gave her the darksaber.
In “The Mandalorian” first season finale, we saw Moff Gideon emerge from his ship with the darksaber, a hint that he obtained it from Bo-Katan.
As I wrote about, “The Mandalorian” is making a few hires for this season that have ties to previous “Star Wars” projects. For example, Rosario Dawson was reportedly hired to play Ahsoka Tano, the main character of “Clone Wars.” The show also apparently hired Temuera Morrison to play Boba Fett and Commander Rex, who was a main character of “The Clone Wars.”
Kessel Run Transmissions suggests that Ahsoka Tano and “Rebels” character Sabine Wren will appear in one episode of “The Mandalorian” during season two. There are rumors that Sasha Banks, a professional wrestler, will play Sabine.
