PROVO — BYU Vocal Point is getting ready to release a brand new album this week, featuring covers of everything from Disney medleys to One Direction to Josh Groban, according to a press release from Vocal Point.
The self-titled album is scheduled to be released on May 22.
The popular a cappella group has already released a few tracks from the upcoming album. Most recently, the group shared a music video for a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” featuring Peter Hollens.
“For years Vocal Point has tried to show that you can listen to cool, awesome music while still staying locked on your values,” McKay Crockett, the group’s director and album producer, said in a statement. “That is what our group is all about, and truthfully, there is no better way to describe this album than that sentiment right there.”
Vocal Point had to cancel a monthlong tour of the US and Cuba earlier this year due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The group also recently cut ties with their record label through Universal Music Group. The new album is being released through BYU Records.
“Vocal Point” is currently available for preorder and will be released on May 22 on most major streaming platforms.
