“The Mandalorian” will reportedly jump timelines when it returns for Season 3, according to the show’s star, Pedro Pascal.
What happened?
Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian on the “Star Wars” Disney+ show, confirmed in an interview with IndieWire that the show will jump timelines for the third season.
“I am told what’s happening and what the plan is, but I can’t share it,” Pascal said. “They are in the expansion of this world, where there are so many unexpected surprises and timelines that are going to be dealt with.”
And Pascal hinted about potential crossovers into other projects.
“If the character were to cross over into these worlds, it will be utilized in a way that isn’t meant to be expected. I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise of whether or not characters from the show we already know are crossing over.”
The bigger picture
That last line from Pascal sounds similar to the “world between worlds” concept seen in “Star Wars Rebels,” which allowed characters to travel through time, much in the same way that characters did in the recent “Lego Star Wars Holiday Special.” There’s an ongoing theory that the concept will be introduced into “The Mandalorian,” too.
- This would lend more evidence to the theory that Disney is looking to reset the “Star Wars” universe and erase the events of “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker,” as I wrote for the Deseret News. The theory suggested characters would find a way to reset the events of the sequel trilogy so they would never happen.
