When the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike started, “The Chosen” received an exemption from the union to continue filming.

“The Chosen” is a hit show depicting Jesus’ life and ministry based on stories from the Bible. When the actors strike started, they only experienced a minor delay in production.

Other shows have been unable to continue filming. While the writers strike was previously ongoing at the onset of the actors strike, the writers strike has now ended.

“Now with actors also going on strike, most remaining production will stop. The exception will be independent movies that are not associated with one of the major studios,” CNN Business reported.

In a press conference last week, president of production Mark Sourian opened up about how “The Chosen” was able to achieve an interim agreement with SAG.

When “The Chosen” caught wind that a strike was inevitable, supervising producer James Elliott reached out to SAG to see if they would sign an agreement.

“What we appreciated most about SAG was that they understood truly that we were an independent production,” Sourian said. “We are not NBC, we are not ABC, we are not FX, we are our own outlier. We are in a category of one.”

SAG’s understanding that “The Chosen” was an independent production created “mutual respect” between the organizations. All in all, the show only lost about a day of filming due to the strike.

Upon receiving the interim agreement to finish production of Season Four, creator of “The Chosen” Dallas Jenkins told Deadline, “As an independent show with two weeks remaining to film our current season, we appreciate SAG’s recognition that not all productions are the same. We’ve agreed to all the terms of their current interim agreement.”

When will Season Four of ‘The Chosen’ be released?

Every episode of “The Chosen” Season Four will be released in theaters starting in early February.
