In two weeks, Netflix will stream its first NFL games on Christmas.
There will be plenty of talent on the field as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens face the Houston Texans, and Netflix is stacking up a strong roster of off-field talent, too.
On Monday, the streaming giant unveiled the on-air talent for the games. The list includes former Notre Dame and NFL linebacker Manti Te’o and comedian Nate Bargatze.
Te’o will be a pregame host in NFL Network’s Los Angeles studio alongside former NFL quarterbacks Drew Brees and Robert Griffin III, ESPN’s Mina Kimes and “Up & Adams” host Kay Adams.
There will also be a pregame show crew in Pittsburgh. It will feature brothers and former NFL players Devin McCourty and Jason McCourty and ESPN host Laura Rutledge.
The pregame hosts will be part of the halftime analysis for the games.
Bargatze will “provide special guest commentary” on “NFL Christmas Gameday.” Comedian Bert Kreische will also participate in the show “as a tailgate correspondent,” according to Netflix.
Netflix is topping it all off with a halftime performance by Beyoncé for the Ravens-Texans game in her hometown of Houston.
Beyoncé will perform songs from her “Cowboy Carter” album and will “bring along some special guests who are featured on” on the album, Netflix said.
Who is calling the NFL’s Christmas games on Netflix?
Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson and JJ Watt will call the game between the Chiefs and Steelers. They will be joined by sideline reporters Melanie Collins and Stacey Dales.
Noah Eagle, who is the son of Ian Eagle, and Greg Olsen will call the matchup of Lamar Jackson versus CJ Stroud as the Ravens take on the Texans in Houston. NFL Network’s Jamie Erdahl and Steve Wyche will be the sideline reporters for the game.
Manti Te’o’s broadcast career
Te’o began his broadcasting career this year when the NFL Network hired him in August. He is a member of the network’s “Good Morning Football” cast.
Earlier this year, Te’o participated in the NFL’s Broadcasting and Media workshop. He expressed his interest in a broadcast career while on “Up & Adams,” as the Deseret News previously reported.
“It couldn’t get easier than to sit back and talk about football, to articulate football, to give the viewers a different perspective of the game that they may not know — just things that I’ve experienced in the locker room, on those airplane rides, conversations that I’ve heard, relationships that I built,” he said.
Te’o previously shared his story as a catfishing victim in the Netflix documentary, “Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist,” which aired in 2022.
