Julia Stiles, known for her roles in “10 Things I Hate About You” and “The Bourne Identity” has stepped behind the camera to make her directorial debut.
The actress directed the movie “Wish You Were Here”, based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Renee Carlino, per People.
According to People, Stiles was inspired to make a movie adaptation of “Wish You Were Here”, after she was deeply emotionally affected by the book.
“Wish You Were Here”, is “a fascinating movie about leaving the everyday world behind to take a chance on true romance," according to People.
It will release in select theaters on Jan. 17, 2025 and on digital platforms on Feb. 4, per IndieWire.
The trailer for the movie was released on Thursday.
What is ‘Wish You Were Here’ about?
According to People, the official synopsis of the movie is, ”When the perfect night with a perfect stranger ends suddenly the next morning, Charlotte searches for answers and meaning in her disappointing life until she uncovers a secret that changes everything.”
The movie explores how one romantic connection can lead to a ripple effect, causing massive change in a person’s life.
“Wish You Were Here” is “kind of two versions of a love story: the one they actually have and the one they dream about,” Stiles said, per People.
Who is in the cast of ‘Wish You Were Here’?
The movie will star Isabelle Fuhrman (“The Novice”) and Mena Messoud (“Aladdin”) as the leads, per IndieWire.
Also in the cast are Kelsey Grammer, Jennifer Grey, Jimmie Fails and Gabby Kono-Abdy.
