2024 saw the release of multiple popular books such as “Funny Story,” “The Women” and “Intermezzo.” But what books will be released in 2025?

In 2025, there will be book releases from popular authors such as Suzanne Collins, Emily Henry and John Green — but some anticipated releases are debut novels from authors such as Kate Fagan and Daniel D’Addario.

‘The Three Lives of Cate Kay’

Release date: Jan. 7

“The Three Lives of Cate Kay” is sports journalist Kate Fagan’s debut novel.

The book is a fictional memoir from a writer “who has spent her life running from her complicated past,” per Time.

When Cate’s book series is going to be made into movies, she decides she can no longer hide her identity. So, she tells the story of her rise to the top and the sacrifices she made to get there.

‘The Talent’

Author: Daniel D’Addario

Release date: Feb. 25

Daniel D’Addario is Variety’s chief correspondent and a moderator of the “Actors on Actors” series. His debut novel follows a group of five actresses throughout a turbulent awards season.

“‘The Talent’ peels back the layers of women who are in the business of being perceived. And while they work to push their careers forward and maintain the public’s goodwill, all five are forced to confront truths about themselves that they would rather ignore,” according to Simon & Schuster.

‘The Dream Hotel’

Author: Laila Lalami

Release date: March 4

“The Dream Hotel” takes place in the near future, a time where everything, including people’s dreams, is under surveillance.

“When museum archivist Sara returns to Los Angeles after a conference abroad, she is detained for a crime that, based on data from her dreams, she will commit in the future against her husband,” per Time.

Sara is taken to a retention center full of other women being held for crimes they haven’t yet committed. While there, she works to escape and prove that her dreams are not reality.

‘Sunrise on The Reaping’

Author: Suzanne Collins

Release date: March 18

“Sunrise on the Reaping” is the second prequel to Suzanne Collins' bestselling “Hunger Games” trilogy.

This prequel tells the story of the 50th Hunger Games, the games Haymitch Abernathy was in, 24 years before the start of Katniss Everdeen’s story.

“When Haymitch’s name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He’s torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who’s nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town,” per Today.

‘Everything is Tuberculosis’

Author: John Green

Release date: March 18

John Green is best known for his fiction work such as “Looking for Alaska” and “The Fault In Our Stars,” but “Everything is Tuberculosis” is the author’s second nonfiction book.

The book “traces the journey of a young tuberculosis patient in Sierra Leone woven together with the scientific and social histories of how this disease has shaped our world and how our choices will shape the future of tuberculosis,” according to Green’s website.

Green has advocated for awareness of tuberculosis for years. He works to make people more aware of the health care inequities that have made a curable illness the world’s deadliest infectious disease, per his website.

‘Great Big Beautiful Life’

Author: Emily Henry

Release date: April 22

Romance author Emily Henry’s latest book follows two writers as they fight “for the chance to tell the larger-than-life story of a woman with more than a couple of plot twists up her sleeve,” per People.

The two main characters are said to be opposites — one is an optimist and the other a “human thundercloud” — and they both end up in the same place vying for the chance to tell a once-in-a-lifetime story.

Some of Henry’s most popular books are “Funny Story,” “People We Meet On Vacation” and “Beach Read.”

‘My Friends’

Author: Fredrik Backman

Release date: May 20

“My Friends” is the newest novel from the author of “A Man Called Ove” and “Anxious People.” The book tells a story focusing on the power of friendship and art.

“A woman seeks the real-life inspiration for one of the most famous paintings in the world — three tiny figures sitting on a pier. Twenty-five years earlier, three teenagers find refuge in a friendship that kept them afloat and away from their difficult home lives,” per USA Today.

‘The Atmosphere’

Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid

Release date: June 3

“The Atmosphere” is the next book from Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author of “Daisy Jones and the Six” and “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.”

This new novel tells the high-stakes love story of two 1980s NASA astronauts.

The job of main character Joan Goodwin is to stay on Earth and communicate with the astronauts in NASA’s shuttles.

“One launch sees her love interest sent up into space,” according to Vogue. “Suddenly, something goes wrong with the rocket … and Joan has to do her job amid a global crisis all while grappling with the potential loss of the person she cares about most."

‘Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil’

Author: V.E. Schwab

Release date: June 10

“Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil,” which was announced in June, follows three women whose bodies are “planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots,” according to People.

The three women are all from different times and places, from Santo Domingo in the 16th century to Boston in the 21st century.

V.E. Schwab is best known for her “Shades of Magic” series and the standalone novel “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.”

‘Katabasis’

R.F. Kuang, known for “Babel,” “Yellowface” and the “Poppy War” trilogy,” has turned to fantasy in her latest book.

“After the death of her mentor, which may or may not be her fault, magician Alice Law decides she will travel to hell to save his soul. The only problem is her magic school rival, Peter Murdoch, is headed there too, with every intention of rescuing him first,” according to Time.

The two magicians are forced to work together in order to return home.
