MrBeast’s record-breaking reality competition show, “Beast Games,” is now four episodes deep, and according to viewers, MrBeast is living up to his claims about the series being “an insane show.”
And, according to the YouTuber, the final six episodes turn the insanity dial up.
“Glad you like episode 4!! Show becomes mind blowing in later episodes and I’m dying to see people’s reactions,” MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, tweeted on Thursday night, following the airing of the show’s most recent episode.
Moments later, he continued the conversation in another post, writing, “Just you wait, the ending will blow your mind.”
In several cases, Donaldson’s ambitious series has already blown audience’s minds.
“MrBeast’s game show ‘Beast Games’ is absolutely insane!” one viewer tweeted, accompanied with a mind-blown emoji.
“Beast Games is wild,” another wrote, adding, “I’ve never seen a game show with this much mental torment.”
During the first four episodes, “Beast Games” has cut 1,000 contestants down to 148. The aggressive elimination process has been, on occasion, brutal. Contestants have passed on large sums of money in hopes of scoring the $5 million grand prize only to suffer elimination promptly after over luckless circumstances.
Some have gone home over a team member’s failings. Others have been back-stabbed by fellow contestants who they considered friends.
Donaldson has routinely pinned friends against one another, tempted contestants with enormous bribes and pressured players to self-eliminate in exchange for their friend’s survival.
Here are five of the wildest moments on “Beast Games” so far.
Here are 5 of the wildest challenges on ‘Beast Games’ so far
1. Pre-game bribe
Before the games officially started, Donaldson offered contestants an opportunity to leave early with money in their pockets.
“Luckily in this show, I have unlimited money to give away,” he said while explaining the challenge.
All 1,000 contestants were offered a deal to eliminate themselves in exchange for a cash prize of $1 million — split between every contestant taking the offer. There were 52 contestants who took the deal and left early, each taking $19,230 with them.
2. Trapdoor eliminations
During one of the first segments of the series, all 1,000 contestants stood over trapdoors. Donaldson sent players plummeting as they were eliminated from the competition. In one scene, three 80-person rows were sent through the trapdoors.
Here’s how it happened.
Donaldson required each row to select one player willing to self-eliminate — within a 10-minute countdown. Until each row found a volunteer to eliminate themselves from the competition, the entire row was in danger of going home.
Once a player self-eliminated, the remaining contestants in that row were safe.
But, not every row could avoid the threat. When the 10 minutes were up, every person on a row that failed to eliminate a player was simultaneously sent home through the trapdoors.
3. Loyalty over $1 million prize
In a two-episode sequence, Donaldson told remaining contestants to split up into four equal-sized groups. Once groups were formed, they were asked to select one individual from within their pack to represent them.
The four representatives were then bribed by Donaldson with an ever-increasing sum of cash. But here’s the caveat: If a representative chose to take the cash, they did so in exchange for their entire team being eliminated, but they got to continue playing.
The bribe climbed for several minutes and eventually capped off at $1 million. None of the representatives took the bribe — which was a fifth of the $5 million grand prize — choosing loyalty to their freshly-formed team over a massive cash prize.
“What is going on?” Donaldson said during the sequence. “I cannot believe what I am seeing.”
4. Only two of three can survive
In the first challenge of episode 3, contestants formed teams of three made up of their friends to compete in a potato sack race. The winning team of the race earned immunity. The remaining players moved onto an emotionally grueling challenge.
Each friend group was placed in a large red cubicle. Inside was a set of handcuffs and a phone. Within a five-hour time limit, every single team had to send home one of their three members, and that player had to handcuff themself to officialize their elimination.
The red phones could be used to ask for any object needed to help make the decision, but if no one was selected at the end of the five hours, everyone inside the cubicle was sent home.
Groups asked for playing cards, dice, board games and other objects to assist in making a fair decision. But it in some cases, the loser refused to leave, taking the entire team down with them.
5. The $1.8 million private island giveaway
In addition to the $5 million grand prize, “Beast Games” contestants also have the opportunity to win a $1.8 million private island, which is located in the Pearl Islands in Panama, according to Decider.
At the conclusion of episode 4, the remaining 60 contestants arrived on the island and were presented with a choice: Compete for a chance to win the island at the risk of being eliminated or forgo the opportunity to own the island in exchange for a free pass to the top 50.
Just nine players chose to compete for the island. Only one can win and the remaining eight will be eliminated from the competition. How do they secure the island? Win a game of hide-and-seek on the island against a group of Navy Seals.
In episode 5, players will find out who wins hide-and-seek and earns the private island.
