Dallas Jenkins said Season 6 of “The Chosen” will be released in the early fall of 2026, with the finale of the season expected to be released as a feature-length film.
He said they’re still trying to raise another $6 million through the nonprofit The Come and See Foundation to finance the finale, which will depict the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Jenkins spoke about Season 6 of the popular show and showed clips from it and several new projects, including the miniseries “Joseph of Egypt,” which is filming now in New Mexico, during a livestream on Sunday night.
Season 6 of ‘The Chosen’
Jenkins said as of Sunday night there were only seven days of filming left for the sixth season of the show, which depicts the final days of Jesus’ ministry and his crucifixion.
The season was partially filmed on a set in Goshen, Utah, that is a replica of Jerusalem, owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jenkins called filming Season 6 “the hardest season of our lives.”
In a clip showing behind-the-scenes footage of filming from the season, actor Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, was seen getting emotional, as director Dallas Jenkins embraced him.
Jenkins also showed a scene from the second episode of Season 6, showing the apostle John speaking to Judas about the arrest of Jesus.
‘Joseph of Egypt’
Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios, the studio behind “The Chosen,” is working on the series “Joseph of Egypt,” which will be released on Amazon’s Prime Video.
Jenkins shared a behind-the-scenes look at the show, which is filming now near Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The show is being financed and produced by Amazon, but Jenkins said 5&2 Studios has creative oversight of the project and is overseeing it for biblical accuracy.
‘The Chosen in the Wild With Bear Grylls’
Jenkins also showed a clip from the upcoming show “The Chosen in the Wild With Bear Grylls.” In the clip, Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene in “The Chosen,” was shown on an outdoor adventure with Grylls.
“The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls,” will also debut on Amazon’s Prime Video.
‘The Chosen Adventures’
Jenkins also showed a clip from the upcoming animated series “The Chosen Adventures,” which is an offshoot of episode 3, season 1 of “The Chosen.”
The show focuses on two children seen in that episode, Abby and Joshua, who will feature in the 14 episodes of the show. The show will also debut on Amazon’s Prime Video, as part of 5&2 Studios partnership with Amazon MGM Studios.
‘David’
Jenkins showed a “sneak peek” of the animated film “David,” depicting the life of the Old Testament prophet king.
5&2 Studios is teaming up with Slingshot Productions to distribute the film to a global audience.
“David” features the voice and songs from Grammy-nominated recording artist Phil Wickham as the lead character.
The movie doesn’t have an official release date yet.
Mini documentary of the filming of Season 5 of ‘The Chosen’
Jenkins also showed a 30-minute mini-documentary about the filming of season 5 of “The Chosen.”
On Sunday, Sept. 28, Season 5 of the show will be released on The Chosen app, Jenkins said. The release will include conversations with several of the actors from the show, he said.
