The official first trailer for “The Chosen Adventures” released on Thursday.
“The Chosen Adventures,” an animated children’s spinoff series to the biblical drama “The Chosen,” is set to premiere on Prime Video next month.
In the trailer, Abby (Romy Fay) and her friend Joshua (Jude Zarzaur) meet Jesus (Jonathan Roumie), who answers her many questions and lets her tag along on his adventures.
The series, which is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios — the studio behind “The Chosen” — will feature 14 11-minutes episodes.
All episodes of “The Chosen Adventures” will premiere exclusively on the streamer on Friday, Oct. 17, in the United States and internationally in the United Kingdom, Latin America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Emmy and Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser leads the series as Sheep, with Yvonne Orji as Pigeon, Romy Fay as Abby, Jude Zarzaur as Joshua, Danny Nucci as Abba and Zehra Fazal as Eema.
Several stars from “The Chosen” will reprise their roles on “The Chosen Adventures,” including Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary, Paras Patel as Matthew, Noah James as Andrew, George H. Xanthis as John, Joey Vahedi as Thomas and Yasmine Al-Bustami as Ramah.
Ryan Swanson, a co-writer for “The Chosen,” serves as the series’ writer, showrunner and executive producer. Dallas Jenkins, the creator of “The Chosen,” will executive produce under his 5&2 Studios banner.
“The Chosen Adventures” falls under Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios’ wide-ranging deal with Amazon MGM Studios, which was announced in February and gave Prime Video exclusive streaming rights for “The Chosen” and future projects.
Also in the works under the same deal are “The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls” and “Joseph of Egypt.”
Can I watch ‘The Chosen Adventures’ for free?
“The Chosen Adventures” will premiere exclusively on Prime Video, but no official announcement has revealed whether the animated series will be available to stream for free via “The Chosen” app or not.
When announcing the wide-ranging deal between 5&2 Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, Jenkins told fans he would hold to his promise to alway make “The Chosen” available for free through the app, but noted that promise might not extend to new shows.
As part of 5&2 Studios’ deal with Prime, “The Chosen” gets a 90-day exclusive streaming window on the streamer before being made available for free on the app. Other projects from 5&2 Studios, such as “The Chosen Adventures,” might be available exclusively on Prime Video for longer than 90 days, Jenkins said during a February livestream.
Some shows might never be available to stream free on “The Chosen” app, Jenkins said, but noted the “goal is for every show eventually to be free.”
“I can’t promise everything,” Jenkins said, “but our desire to get this content to as many people as possible all over the world is shared by Prime Video, and of course, Come and See.”
