Nearly two years after publicly asking his wife for another child at the 2024 Emmys, Kieran Culkin will soon be a father of three.
Culkin and his wife, Jazz Charton, revealed they were expecting their third child at the opening night of the Broadway show “Waiting for Godot” on Sunday, according to People.
The actor was photographed smiling with his hand on his wife’s baby bump.
In his acceptance speech after winning outstanding lead actor in a drama series at the 2024 Emmys, Culkin thanked his wife before telling her he wanted more kids.
“And of course, my beautiful wife, Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,” he said. “And Jazz, I want more. You said, you said, maybe if I win. I love you so much.”
A year later, Culkin found himself on a major award show stage again when he won the 2025 Oscar for best supporting actor. In his acceptance speech, he reminded the audience of his Emmy speech.
“About a year ago I was on stage like this and I very stupidly, publicly said that want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award she would give me the kid. Turns out, she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win,” he said.
The cameras shot to Charton sitting in the audience, who appeared to tell the crowd, “It’s true.”
Culkin then shared what happened after that speech. Culkin, Charton and his manager Emily Gerson Saines walked through the parking lot, searching for their car.
Charton told Culkin she remembered the promise she made him.
“She goes ... ‘I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid,’” Culkin recalled his wife saying. “I turn to her, and I said, ‘Really I want four.’” And she turned to me ... this was just over a year ago and said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar,” Culkin said.
On camera again, Charton covered her mouth with her hands and nodded her head “yes” as she laughed.
“I held my hand out. She shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey? You do? OK, then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith, no pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again, and let’s get crackin’ on those kids. What do you say?” Culkin said.
At the time, Culkin’s speech was praised by conservative commentators, as the Deseret News previously reported, including Christian author Megan Basham and the late Charlie Kirk.
“If we return to a Hollywood where men use their acceptance speeches to joke w/ their wives about having more babies instead of women using theirs to praise abortion for their success Hollywood could be great again,” Basham wrote on X.
Kirk, who was shot and killed in Utah earlier this month, called it “the most pro-family acceptance speech you’ll hear from Hollywood,” in his own X post.
“Get married. Have kids. Lots of them,” Kirk said.
Culkin and Charton are already the parents of 6-year-old daughter, Kinsey Sioux, and 4-year-old Wilder Wolf, according to People.
