On the heels of a record-setting box office low last month, movie theaters are forecast to receive a much-needed boost with the Thanksgiving weekend release of “Wicked: For Good” and other franchise films, including “Zootopia 2″ and “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

Domestic box office revenue for October 2025 hit its lowest point in three decades (excluding 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic) — with collective earnings at $425 million, per Variety.

October titles anticipated to rake in big earnings at the box office, such as Disney’s “Tron: Ares” and Dwayne Johnson’s “The Smashing Machine” both slumped far below expectations, with “Tron: Ares” expected to lose roughly $130 million as a result of low ticket sales, per Deadline.

“The major releases this month failed to deliver. Simple as that,” box office analyst Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations told Variety.

“Not to fear though,” he added. “Holiday season kicks into gear next weekend — and Hollywood will be breathing a huge sigh of relief.”

Thanksgiving week 2025 also welcomes a third installment in the “Knives Out” series, the rom-com “Eternity,” faith-based drama “Sarah’s Oil” and more.

Here are movies slated for theaters over Thanksgiving week 2025.
