The team at Warner Bros. unveiled the official teaser trailer for “Dune: Part Three,” the final installment in the trilogy, on Tuesday. The films are based on the 1965 novel “Dune” and its sequels by Frank Herbert.
The latest installment features an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Zendaya, Ida Brooke, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.
The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose previous works include the first two “Dune” films and “Arrival,” according to IMDb.
“Dune: Part Three” faces immediate competition from Marvel Studios. The trailer arrived the same day “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” trailer clips have been revealed in short “puzzle” snippets to tease the film’s upcoming trailer.
The box-office rivalry will heat up when “Dune: Part Three” and “Avengers: Doomsday” both make their theatrical debuts on Dec. 18.
While some fans are already hailing the series as one of the greatest trilogies in cinema history, others remain skeptical that the finale can maintain such a high caliber, in comparison to other franchises.
The trailer sparked immediate social media buzz from both longtime readers of the novels and new devotees of Villeneuve’s film adaptations.
