Taylor Swift caused another frenzy in the Swiftie community this week, leading up to the announcement of a new single called “Patient Zero.”
The music artist announced Tuesday afternoon that her new song will come out Sept. 25.
“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now at https://store.taylorswift.com for 24 hours. 0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣,” she wrote in a post on social media.
Easter eggs leading up to Taylor Swift’s announcement
Leading up to the announcement, Swift changed her Instagram bio from “And, baby, that’s show business for you,” to “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u” — changing the O’s to zeros.
The announcement arrives amid speculation about what Swift was up to, especially after a “Law & Order: Special Victims” sketch Swift appeared in for the 2026 Emmys. The video was packed with Easter eggs, like when Swift turned to the camera and said blankly, “Aries, saccharide, from the vineyard, north or south.”
Also leading up to the announcement, Swift earned the distinction of becoming the most awarded artist of all time for the MTV Video Music Awards with the creation of the first-ever Artist Director Honors, which will be awarded to Swift on Sunday.
Another egg that keen Swifties picked up on is that there is now a third page on Swift’s website for the letter announcing she owns all of her own music. When the announcement first dropped, there was only one sheet of paper in the image.
