President D. Todd Christofferson, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be dedicating the Yorba Linda California Temple, per a church press release published Thursday.
President Christofferson will dedicate the Yorba Linda temple Sunday, June 7, in a 10 a.m. dedicatory session that will be broadcast to all church units within the temple district.
This June temple dedication will be the first President Christofferson presides as a member of the First Presidency, the church’s highest governing body, since he was called to be second counselor in October 2025.
Accompanying President Christofferson at the Yorba Linda temple dedication will be Elder Steven R. Bangerter of the church’s temple department and his wife, Sister Susan Bangerter; Elder I. Raymond Egbo and his wife, Sister Comfort Egbo; and Elder Takashi Wada and his wife, Sister Naomi Ueno Wada.
The Yorba Linda California Temple was first announced during the church’s April 2021 general conference by then-church President Russell M. Nelson.
Construction of the Yorba Linda temple then began in June 2022, and once construction finished, the single-story temple opened for free public tours this year on April 30.
Public tours of the temple will conclude Saturday, May 23, and once the Yorba Linda temple is dedicated, it will become the church’s ninth dedicated temple in California and the second in Orange County.
Currently operating temples in California include the Los Angeles, Oakland, Fresno, Newport Beach, Sacramento and Feather River temples.
The San Diego temple, originally dedicated in 1993, closed for renovations in July 2023 and has been scheduled for rededication on Aug. 23.
One other temple — the Modesto California Temple — is currently under construction, and a final two — the Sunnyvale and Bakersfield temples — are in planning/design stages.
