The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Naga Philippines Temple on Aug. 8, 2026.
This will be the third House of the Lord under construction in the country, which is home to over 900,000 Latter-day Saints, according to a church press release.
Elder Steven D. Shumway, a General Authority Seventy and member of the Philippines Area Presidency, will preside at the groundbreaking.
The Naga Philippines Temple was announced in 2022, becoming the ninth Latter-day Saint temple in the Philippines. The church currently operates six temples in the country and has either announced or begun construction on seven others.

The late church President Russell M. Nelson announced the Naga Philippines Temple during the final session of the October 2022 general conference. Prior to announcing the temple and 18 others worldwide, he showed a video depicting a scene from the Book of Mormon, when the Savior appeared to people outside a temple in the ancient Americas.
“It is significant that the Savior chose to appear to the people at the temple,” President Nelson said. “It is his house. It is filled with his power.”
