The Modesto California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be dedicated in late November, per a church First Presidency announcement published Monday.

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple in a dedicatory session to be held Sunday, Nov. 22.

The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all church units within the temple district.

Preceding the temple’s November dedication, the Modesto temple will open for free public tours every Monday through Saturday from Oct. 16-31.

The temple will also open for media tours on Oct. 13 and tours for private guests on Oct. 14-15.

“The doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints centers on the family,” church President Dallin H. Oaks taught in a recent general conference. “Essential to our doctrine on the family is the temple. The ordinances received there enable us to return as eternal families to the presence of our Heavenly Father.”

As currently scheduled, the Modesto California Temple will be the third Latter-day Saint temple in the state to be dedicated in 2026.

The Modesto temple was first announced in April 2022 general conference by former church President Russell M. Nelson.

As one of 12 announced temples in California, the Modesto California Temple will help serve the nearly 730,000 Latter-day Saints that reside in the state.
