Elder Clark G. Gilbert, the newest apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will dedicate his first temple this fall.
Elder Gilbert, who was called to the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in February, will dedicate the Cody Wyoming Temple on Sunday, Oct. 25.
The Cody temple’s dedicatory session will be broadcast and rebroadcast to all church units in the area at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
Preceding the temple’s dedication, guests of all faiths and ages will be welcome to tour the single-story temple during a free public open house that will run every Monday through Saturday from Aug. 27 to Sept. 12.
“I witness that Christ is our Redeemer,” Elder Gilbert testified in his very first general conference address as a Latter-day Saint apostle. “When we fall short, he repairs the breaches in our lives. The Savior loves all of us and is tenderly calling for you and for me to come home.”
Elder Gilbert was first called to the apostleship on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and was sustained an apostle in April 2026 general conference.
His call to the apostleship filled the vacancy in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles created by the death of President Jeffrey R. Holland, who died Dec. 7, 2025, at age 85.
“I pledge my life to be a witness to the name of Jesus Christ,” Elder Gilbert said in his April conference address.
The Cody Wyoming Temple was first announced in October 2021 and will be the third operating temple in Wyoming.
The state’s two other operating houses of the Lord are the Star Valley and Casper Wyoming temples, dedicated in 2016 and 2024, respectively.
Once the Cody Wyoming Temple is dedicated this fall, the three Wyoming temples will help serve the nearly 67,000 Latter-day Saints who call the state home.
