New guest experiences will soon be available at the flagship destination of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church announced Monday.
The new experiences that will be available at Temple Square “have been designed to help all guests learn of Jesus Christ,” said Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “He is the focus.”
The new experiences coming to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Conference Center and Salt Lake Tabernacle at Temple Square include exhibits and projections. These will be available before, during and after the Salt Lake Temple celebration and open house that will take place April 5 through Oct. 1, 2027.
“We hope and pray that the millions of guests who come to Temple Square every year and engage with these new experiences will be inspired and come to know their Savior better,” Elder Renlund said.
Exact opening dates for each experience will be announced later, per a church press release published on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
New experiences coming to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building
The Joseph Smith Memorial Building will soon have new experiences for guests in its chapel, theaters and other areas.
In the chapel, guests will learn about the role of Sunday worship for Latter-day Saints through a presentation including videos of members sharing their experiences.
In a new theater, called the “Life of Christ Theater,” guests will view videos of Jesus Christ being baptized and calming the stormy sea through a panoramic screen with surround sound.
Other areas, such as the “Life of Christ Children’s Area” and the “Life of Christ Lobby,” will provide children, families and other guests with places to learn interactively about Jesus Christ, as well as rest and reflect.
New experiences coming to the Conference Center
The Conference Center, which is currently undergoing renovations in preparation for the Salt Lake Temple open house, will soon feature new galleries and displays that teach about the Lord’s prophets and how their teachings draw those who listen closer to God and Jesus Christ.
The Conference Center will also feature artwork, scripture, a replica of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s “Christus” statue (in addition to the one in the square’s new visitors’ center) and an interactive experience about personal revelation.
New experiences coming to the Salt Lake Tabernacle
In the historic Salt Lake Tabernacle, video productions of Jesus Christ and his earthly ministry will soon be projected on the structure’s iconic domed ceiling.
The productions will run 5–8 minutes long, and showtimes will be listed on the church’s Temple Square app and website.
