The next evolution of the dirty soda is here. The popular drink shop known as the “Home of the Dirty Soda” just hopped on the energy bandwagon with its latest drink menu item — “Swig Energy.”
The drink menu replacing the store’s revivers was introduced last Tuesday, with seven options, plus the ability to customize your own.
The new options include:
- Aloha Horizon
- Cabana Colada
- Coastal Kiss
- Lemon Berry Bliss
- Weekend Dream
- Passion Swirl
- Sweet Skies
Swig Energy is a new formulation acting as the base for the new drink combinations. It is just another step as Swig continues to expand its presence across the country, according to Swig CEO Alex Dunn.
“Swig Energy represents an exciting next step in how we grow the brand,” Dunn said. “We created this new energy base to give guests more freedom to build an energy drink around the flavors and ingredients they love. As we expand into more communities, we’ll continue listening closely to our customers and using their feedback to shape what comes next.”
For skeptics of the new drink, or for those who just a want a refreshment, Swig is offering a free drink on Saturday, Aug. 22, to anyone who stops by one of the store locations.
The new drink craze
A day after Swig released its new drink, McDonald’s announced its own on Aug. 12, partnering with Red Bull to form its newest drink. Featuring a Red Bull base, blue raspberry syrup and freeze-dried dragonfruit, the new drink is called the “Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer.” It was released on Monday.
McDonald’s first entered the dirty soda scene in May, along with other national chains such as Dunkin’, Sonic and Crumbl.
Reaction to the new energy drinks
One teacher celebrated the timing of the new Swig drinks.
“Costal kiss!! It looks so yummy! And I definitely need the energy going back to school teaching middle schoolers,” user mm_egann_ commented.
Others were concerned about the older reviver drink options that are no longer listed on the website menu.
“Whoa whoa whoa. How does this compare to the Reviver energy (Swig has) had? Sugar free option? What’s the caffeine content? Will Daisy Duke still be an option?” amysyoung5 asked.
Other users reassured her the taste is much smoother while still retaining the sugar-free options.
Food influencer rednecksnack commented on the new McDonald’s drink, saying it tastes like Baja Blast, Red Bull and dragonfruit.
Others were not so sure about McDonald’s new drink combo.
“Are u gonna be ID’ing the kids who try buy this??” one user quipped.
Another on X commented the drink was worth it.
