Arab and Muslim states, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, issued a joint call for Hamas to disarm and relinquish power in Gaza.
Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, starting the almost two-year-long conflict that has led to devastation in Gaza.
The document, released amid ongoing meetings in New York, was signed by all 22 members of the Arab League, the European Union and 17 other countries, CNN reported.
The document, first obtained by The Times of Israel, condemned the Oct. 7 attack and said Hamas must release all remaining hostages. It also condemned attacks on Gaza by Israel where civilians were killed, and called for Israel to leave Gaza and the West Bank.
The group called for Hamas to give up power and make way for the implementation of a two-state solution under the Palestinian Authority.
Action on hunger in Gaza
The declaration comes amid growing concern over hunger in Gaza.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States will work with Israel to create new food centers in Gaza as hunger spreads across the region.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Israel would advise on how to distribute the aid in a “proper” way.
“We’re going to be dealing with Israel, and we think they can do a good job of it,” he said.
However, Trump didn’t offer many details about the plan.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said recently he does not believe people are starving in Gaza and said Israel has provided aid to help civilians, but the World Health Organization says children and adults alike are dying of hunger at a growing rate, The Associated Press reported.
Trump broke with Netanyahu on the issue and said children in Gaza “look very hungry.”
