Utah State Aggies star linebacker David Woodward is moving on from Logan.

Woodward and the school announced on Monday morning that he will skip his senior season of eligibility and enter the 2020 NFL draft.

In a message that he posted on Twitter, Woodward expressed gratitude to his family, Aggie fans and others who helped make his four years at the school a good experience.

“My four years at Utah State have been some of the greatest days of my life, and I would like to thank each and every one of you for helping create such special memories that will last a lifetime,” he wrote.

A native of Olympia, Washington, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Woodward had a tremendous 2018 season and was named an Associated Press Third-Team All-American while also being graded as the top linebacker in the country by Pro Football Focus.

This year, he missed the final five games of the regular season because of injury (he will not play in Friday night’s Frisco Bowl against Kent State) but still received first team All-Mountain West honors.

For his career, Woodward finished with 256 tackles, including eight sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss, to go along with six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He posted 15 double-digit tackle games in his career.

“David Woodward is a tremendous football player and he gave everything he had to the program and his teammates during his time here,” USU head coach Gary Andersen said in a statement. “David will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in life.”

Woodward becomes the second marquee Aggie to declare for the 2020 draft, as quarterback Jordan Love did so last week.
