A hype video posted on the University of Utah football program’s official Twitter account Thursday in advance of Friday’s Pac-12 Championship Game was accompanied by a song written for the occasion by a former player.
Former wide receiver Kenneth Scott, who was on the roster from 2010-2015 (he missed two complete seasons because of injury), both wrote and performed “Rise Up,” which runs just under two minutes. It gives a recap of the season so far and expresses what’s at stake for the fifth-ranked Utes moving forward.
In addition to fans who loved the song, Scott received a compliment on Twitter from at least one very prominent former Ute, NFL veteran Eric Weddle.
