SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake is not scheduled to play the Colorado Rapids until Oct. 18 in Colorado, but as the Rapids’ schedule has been thrown into chaos because of positive COVID-19 tests within the organization, the game was postponed on Monday night.

“Although there have been no new confirmed cases among Rapids staff and players, based on the total number of cases, Major League Soccer, in consultation with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, has postponed Colorado Rapids matches for the next 10 days,” a joint statement from the league and RSL said.

Colorado last played on Sept. 23 — a 5-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes — but has had its Oct. 7 and Oct. 10 games postponed (against LAFC and the LA Galaxy), as well as its Oct. 14 game (Seattle Sounders), the one on the 18th as well as one on Oct. 21 (Sporting Kansas City).

RSL is in the midst of a three-game losing streak with only six to play in the regular season. It lost to the Rapids on Sept. 12 at home, also by a score of 5-0. RSL is still scheduled to play its Oct. 14 game at home against the Portland Timbers.
