Cam Rising’s time as the Utah Utes’ starting quarterback this season will end up lasting just a few series.

On Tuesday morning during his first press availability since the Utes lost 33-17 to the USC Trojans last Saturday in their season opener, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said Rising will be out for the season after suffering a shoulder injury.

Rising was hurt on the Utes’ fourth offensive series of the game. He finished 3-of-6 for 45 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

Graduate transfer Jake Bentley spelled him and ended the night 16-of-28 for 171 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
