Kyle Whittingham’s program has been reeling in several commits for its 2021 recruiting class in recent weeks, and that group added another Friday.

The latest is receiver Makai Cope, who announced his commitment to the Utah Utes on YouTube.

Cope, a 6-foot-2, 190-pounder who prepped at Culver City High in California, is rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports. He held several scholarship offers from Power Five programs, including LSU, USC, Stanford, Michigan, Kansas State and Arizona State, per 247 Sports.

He is the 16th commit in the Utes’ 2021 class, and the first wide receiver. Cope had 46 receptions for 802 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior in 2019, according to Max Preps.
