Utah Jazz franchise cornerstones Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert will compete Sunday evening in what will be the first NBA All-Star Game for both.
Mitchell and Gobert will both be reserves on Team Giannis, as they were drafted by Milwaukee Bucks superstar and reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo after being selected by league coaches as reserves for the game (LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers drafted the other team, with both being made up of 12 players each).
In honor of Kobe and Gianni Bryant, every All-Star will wear one of two numbers. Everyone on Team Giannis will wear No. 24, while everyone on Team LeBron will wear No. 2.
The game’s MVP award has been renamed in Kobe Bryant’s honor.
