SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State guard Sam Merrill earned first-team honors on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-District 17 team Monday, while teammate and center Neemias Queta was named to the second team.

Merrill led the Aggies in scoring as a senior, averaging 19.7 points per contest, while also surpassing the 2,000-point mark and finishing his Utah State career with 2,197 points. He was named the Mountain West Tournament MVP by guiding the Aggies to their second straight MW Tournament title.

Queta averaged 13.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while anchoring Utah State defensively with 1.7 blocks per contest. After joining the Aggies partway into the season as he recovered from an offseason knee injury, Queta helped USU land the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.

Merrill and Queta were also named to the first and second teams, respectively, last year. USU has been represented in the NABC District 17 honors each of the past four years, with Jalen Moore named second team in 2017 and Koby McEwen in 2018.
