“The Office” star John Krasinski and Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz have surprised Boston medical workers with Red Sox tickets ... for life.

What happened:

  • Krasinski asked five members of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s COVID-19 unit onto his new online news show, “Some Good News.” David Ortiz surprised the group. He then told them all that they would receive Red Sox tickets for life.
  • Ortiz said: “I gotta tell you guys from the very bottom of my heart how much I love and respect you for what you guys are doing.”
  • Ortiz took the group on a ride with the Duck Boats in Boston. The group then visited Fenway Park where they threw out a first pitch.
  • Krasinski said: “I thought I was a big deal, but I’ve been waiting on the wait list (for tickets) for 16 years and have still heard nothing. I might be able to get Big Papi, but I don’t get the Big Papi treatment.”

Krasinski and Ortiz honor their home

  • Krasinski, who is from Newton, teamed up with Ortiz to honor the workers in Massachusetts. Ortiz helped the city of Boston rally after the Boston Marathon bombing, becoming a city legend, according to The Washington Post.
  • Krasinski spoke about Boston’s ability to rally back then: “The way the city bonded together, the way we supported each other and rose to the occasion to send out the message that we are much, much stronger than any one event is what’s always most impressive about being from Boston.”
