Deseret News honorary all-state softball team for Utah’s 397 seniors from class of 2020

Without the opportunity to select an all-state softball team in 2020 because of COVID-19, the Deseret News is celebrating all 397 seniors in the state

James has been covering high school sports in Utah for the Deseret News for three decades.

The Deseret News’ commitment to covering high school sports through the years has always been about promoting great kids doing great things athletically. This spring, COVID-19 is preventing us from doing that — which extends to the postseason as well as there won’t be an all-state softball team.

Those all-state teams would’ve inevitably featured numerous seniors who ended their careers with a bang this spring. Because it’s impossible to know which of those seniors would’ve excelled the most with a full season on the mound or in the batters box, the Deseret News is excited to honor all 397 seniors whose final season was cut short by a pandemic.
