SOUTH JORDAN — Bingham’s scheduled season opener against Weber this Friday has been canceled after three Bingham players tested positive for COVID-19.
It’s the first high school football game in Utah that has been canceled because of COVID-19. Utah starts its season this week, a week earlier than any other state in the country.
Friday night’s opening slate of games was been reduced from 51 to 50 as Bingham-Weber canceled because of positive tests on Bingham. @UHSAAinfo said no other cancellations as of yet.

Bingham coach Dave Peck said his team dealt with some positive cases during the summer, which forced the program to cancel some scrimmages. Now it has forced the team to cancel its opener.
Peck said the three players haven’t shown any symptoms but got tested after a family member tested positive.
Bingham’s season opener is now slated for next Friday at Skyridge, and Peck said the status of that game is up in the air as of now.
Weber is scheduled to play Bountiful at home in Week 2.
